The AI revolution demands a response. In "Artificial Intelligence. The Revolution That Will Change Our Lives.", I propose three possible approaches, which individuals can adopt to varying degrees :
Sit down (passive observation). This approach means simply watching the revolution unfold. However, studies like Goldman Sachs' in March 2023 predicted that 300 million jobs worldwide could be threatened by generative AI. We've already seen examples in France, like Onclusive, where AI replaces over half the employees, demonstrating that passive observation may avoid inevitable transformations.
Fight (resistance). Historically, new technologies have always provoked resistance, much like the Luddites. While natural, there's a danger in fighting: as Yoda might say, "What you fight, you become". Becoming blinded by the struggle can lead to adopting the very traits one opposes.
Evolve (adapt & engage). This is the most recommended approach - adapting, learning, and engaging with AI responsibly.
Personal AI Assistants. A great first step is creating specialized AI agents on platforms like ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, or Claude. By structuring requests with "Act as", these agents can become personalized life assistants, improving with ongoing conversations.
Sovereign AI. To limit dependence on major US tech companies, I advocate for "sovereign AI" solutions. These allow countries or entities to retain control over their data and technologies, fostering responsible AI development aligned with local values, such as infomaniak | The Ethical Cloud's Swiss AI.
Creative Adaptation. My creation of the World Chess Tennis Association (WCTA) is an example of re-humanizing activities by combining chess (a field impacted by AI's dominance) and tennis. Its Latin motto, Mens Acris In Corpore Sano ("a lively mind in a healthy body"), emphasizes combining physical and intellectual exercise.
I am personally deeply engaged in the "evolve" approach, working intensely on application development, opening developer accounts, and using AIs to compare code and no-code solutions like Xcode, Visual Studio Code, Android Studio, Bubble, ComfyUI or Manus on concrete projects.
Which of these three approaches resonates most with you, and what practical steps are you taking to "evolve" in the age of AI?
Disrupt sensibly.
Leveraging expertise in innovation and digital transformation globally.
